Susan Ray RN, BSN, MBA/HCM has recently joined MDI Hospital as the Vice President of Ancillary and Support Services. Ms. Ray brings to the newly created position a diverse background in nursing leadership, administration, and human resources.
In her new position, Ms. Ray is responsible for guiding and assisting strategic plan implementation, and operations of various clinical and support departments, including the pharmacy, laboratory, medical imaging, nutrition services, physical plant and physical therapy.
After receiving her Associates degree in Nursing from Mount Aloysius in Cresson, Pennsylvania in 1991, Ms. Ray worked in the Cardiothoracic and Telemetry Unit of Altoona City Hospital in Pennsylvania. She also served as a Director of Nursing, Rehab Coordinator, IV Nurse Consultant, and Director of Recruitment in several North Carolina health care facilities.
From 2001 to 2003, Ms. Ray pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from the University of Maine at Farmington while working as the Director of Recruitment at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
While pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Management degree between 2004 and 2005, Ms. Ray served as Vice President of Human Resources at St. Andrews Hospital and Health Center in Boothbay Harbor.
Ms. Ray relocated back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. Ms. Ray served as the Chief Nursing Officer at Clearfield Hospital in Clearfield, Pennsylvania while studying for her Masters of Business Administration/Health Care Management, which she received in 2007. In addition to serving as Chief Nursing Officer, Ms. Ray held a consulting position with a cardiovascular program development firm.
Desiring to relocate back to Maine on a permanent basis, Ms. Ray joined MDI Hospital in her current capacity. “My focus in this new position is to create a working team environment that supports quality outcomes, and processes that ensure quality service to MDI Hospital customers.”
