Meet your newest MDI Hospital physicians at our Open House on Nov. 7

On Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm, MDI Hospital will host an Open House at Cooper Gilmore Health Center for two new physicians.

MDI Hospital is expanding its surgery capabilities with the newly formed MDI Hospital Surgery Clinic and general surgeon Kendra Blount, DO. Dr. Blount comes to MDI Hospital from the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, CT, where she completed her surgical residency. She received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2007 and her undergraduate degree from Salisbury University in Maryland.

Dr. Blount’s practice will complement the surgical procedures available here through Eden Surgical Services and surgeons Dr. Charles Hendricks and Dr. Michael Mason. In addition to general surgeries, Dr. Blount has professional interest and expertise in breast and women’s surgeries, laparoscopic surgery, and cancer care.

Dr. Michelle Kinbrook is dual board certified in pediatrics and internal medicine and will provide complete family care for children, teens, and adults at the Cooper-Gilmore and Trenton Health Centers.

Dr. Kinbrook completed her residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, which is a teaching hospital affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, carried out post-graduate studies in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Virginia, and graduated with honors in Biochemistry at Imperial College of Sciences in London, England.

Support the Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center at the Fall Frock Swap On Thursday, Nov.8

Revitalize your wardrobe for a good cause. Clean out your closets and participate in the Auxiliary and Women’s Health Center Frock Swap on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 5-8 pm at the Atlantic Oceanside. Items need to be in good condition and can include clothing, shoes, purses, coats, scarves, outerwear and lingerie. Swapping is fun! Pick out some new items at the Frock Swap and help support the new Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center.

Items can be dropped off now at the Women’s Health Center, to Brenda Sprague at MDI Hospital or to the Atlantic Oceanside the day of the sale. For $10, you can bring up to 10 items to swap and revitalize your wardrobe! For more info, contact Brenda Sprague at 288-5082, ext. 1198.

MDI Hospital Auxiliary Annual Fall Fair and Luncheon is Friday, Nov. 9

The MDI Hospital Auxiliary kicks off the local fair season at the Fall Fair and Luncheon on Friday, Nov. 9 from 10 am – 3 pm at the Atlantic Oceanside. Start your holiday shopping early and make plans to attend this festive annual event.

Take a chance to win jewelry and gift certificates donated by many local restaurants and businesses at the raffle table. Fabulous silent auction items will include paintings from many local artists. Look for great bargains on homemade handicraft, fleece items and baked goods. What treasures will you find on the White Elephant table?

Join your neighbors and friend for the luncheon which will feature fish chowder, sandwiches (including crabmeat) and delectable desserts. Donations of items are being accepted and monetary donations are always appreciated and will support the new Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center. Meet your newest MDI Hospital physician at  our Open House Tuesday, Nov. 13

On Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm., an Open House will be held at Community Health Center to welcome Family Physician Tanya Hanke, DO.

Dr. Hanke received her Doctor of Osteopathy in 2008 at the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and recently completed her family practice residency at Middlesex Family Practice in Connecticut. Dr. Hanke will be welcoming new patients at Cadillac Family Practice and Community Health Center.
