MDI HOSPITAL HEALTH CENTERS

Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center

Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center in Bar Harbor

Founded in 1993

  • A well-rounded, community-minded health center delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
  • The Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center is all about women’s health – mind, body, and spirit – from adolescence through all stages of womanhood
  • We strive to be your primary resource for all your health needs, including obstetric and gynecological care

Named in memory of longtime summer resident Lisa Stewart, our Main Street facility was made possible by an outpouring of community and donor support. The Stewart family, an integral part of the Northeast Harbor community for many years, pledged their support to the project as a way of honoring Ms. Stewart’s memory by recognizing her affinity for Mount Desert Island.

The Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center is MDI Hospital’s first purpose-built outpatient health center in Bar Harbor. It features nearly three times the space of our original building, accommodates more outpatient services, and embraces the technological evolution that is ever-present in modern health care.

As a part of the community, we believe in doing our part to help bring to the forefront issues and programs that support our community’s success. Whether it is through programs that help teens make informed choices, or raising awareness about women’s health issues such as breast cancer awareness, the Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center, through our Community Advisory Committee, is, by design, a partner in the care of our community.

When we talk with women about what they’re looking for in a provider, the number one answer is time. We schedule longer-than-usual appointments that give both you and your provider time to talk, to listen, to interact because your care is more than a list of symptoms, ailments or procedures. The center’s mission has always been to heal and nurture mind, body, and spirit in an empowering, supportive environment.
