Happy Medical Assistant Recognition Week!

Happy Medical Assistant Recognition Week from MDI Hospital! Medical Assistants (MAs) are celebrated every year during the third week of October.

Thanks to our dedicated MAs, MDI Hospital health centers and departments are able to provide care to our many patients and community members. We are all grateful for their work, professionalism, and selflessness.

We encourage you to thank the MAs you know all this week!

Medical Assistants of MDI Hospital's Trenton Health Center!

“This group has worked together, some more than 10+ years. They take pride in their job and the quality of care they provider to our patients. Trenton is lucky to have this group of MA’s who are always striving for excellence. They make the office feel like a second home hosting potluck breakfast/lunches, their singing talents, and decorating our office for the seasons. We appreciate each and everyone of them.”

– Audrey Leavitt, Trenton Health Center Practice Manager

Medical Assistants of MDI Hospital's Lisa Stewart Women's Health Center!

“I have had the absolute pleasure of working alongside this outstanding group of Medical Assistants for many years. Together, we have 48 years of Medical Assisting experience. Each day the MAs of LSWHC provide high quality and impactful care to our community and beyond. They each provide exemplary clinical competence and genuine compassion. I could not ask for a better team to represent and carry out the Hospital’s mission and vision.

Jessica ‘Jess’ Goodwin (16 yrs): The backbone – has been a medical assistant with MDIH for 13.5 years. She has worked alongside MDIH’s OB physicians and has been a dynamic team member being knowledge in OB/GYN and Primary Care. Jess is a strong and diverse team player with vast knowledge and skill. She has shown strong loyalty and commitment to our organization and community. Jess, thank you for being such a strong and supportive co-worker, mentor, and care giver. You set the bar high, and I’m honored to work and learn with you every day!

Karen Martin (5 yrs): The heart – has been a medical assistant with MDIH for 5.5 years. She has worked alongside 2 of MDIH’s Certified Nurse Midwives. She has a deep of knowledge in all areas of Women’s Health Care. She is always willing to step in and help when/where she can. With much pride, I can say that Karen’s goal of becoming an Occupational Therapist is well within her reach! Miss Karen will be leaving WHC in early November to achieve her long-term goal. Karen, we wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors and thank you for all that you’ve done for us.

Samantha ‘Sam’ Ash (12 yrs): The funny bone – has been a medical assistant with MDIH for 3.5 years, although she started her career with us in 2011. Medical Assistant of MDI Hospital's Orthology Department!

“Heidi demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and dedication daily. She does an exceptional job coordinating patient care between the office and the OR.”

– Michelle Hackett, Orthopedics Department Practice Manager

Medical Assistants of MDI Hospital's Cadillac Family Practice!

“Although the current number of Medical Assistants here at CFP is small, the amount of quality work these two accomplish generously exceeds that number.

Shannon Simons brings years of experience and knowledge to our team, patients and co-workers respect Shannon’s skill-set and often rely on her to have the answers that they are looking for. Shannon is incredibly hardworking and brings a great deal of energy to the clinic, she is often the last support team member to leave the building at the end of the work day, not wanting to leave any loose ends. She is a reliable, dedicated member of our team and we all feel very fortunate to have her as part of our work family.

Emily Kelley is a very hardworking, smart, dedicated medical assistant, willing to do anything she can to support our patients and other members of our team. Emily is a trustworthy person with a very big heart, when she smiles she literally lights up the room around her. We all feel very fortunate to have her as a member of our work family here at CFP!”

Medical Assistants of MDI Hospital's Community Health Center!

“Thank you to the Medical Assistants at Community Health Center! Their commitment to teamwork and excellence is remarkable. Not only do they advocate for our community, and our patients, but they advocate for each other and all of their coworkers. Our patients feel confident sharing their concerns, respect their recommendations and recognize that the MA is an integral part of the CHC team and serve as an extension of our providers. Our MA’s go above and beyond on a daily basis. Despite the current staffing shortage, COVID and extended hours they have worked beautifully as a team supporting the patients and each other. They serve the community with empathy, compassion and grace. Each of our MA’s have their own wonderful unique personality and amazing sense of humor.

Joyce is our phlebotomist who is doing double duty managing the lab schedule and a provider schedule. She is a kind and sensitive person which translates directly to her care for patients. She has an amazing way of making our patients feel comfortable. She has an incredible attention to detail. She loves fiercely and truly believes in doing what is right over what is easy. She steps up to the plate when asked and always says “we can do this!” Joyces commitment to our community and patients is magnificent and she has worked for MDIH for 10 years! Next time you see Joyce ask her about her pet pig 😊

Dr. Hanke works with Holly and says “Holly is the glue that keeps me together. Her compassion, empathy and knowledge impress me every day. She is extremely bright, great with children and the elderly. Her positive energy keeps the Community Health Center moving forward. Her triage skills, willingness to work as a team and commitment to the MDIH family is amazing. I am grateful for her every day. Having grown up here she maintains familiarity and boundaries with patients at the same time which is difficult.”

Tiffany just started with our team. She brings new energy and new knowledge to CHC as she comes from a podiatry back ground. Her ability to step in to a new place and a new role is astounding. She is kind and greets her patients with a warm smile that you can see even from behind her mask. We are so happy to welcome Tiffany to the CHC team!

Melissa Lower, FNP has kind words to say about her MA Maeghan “I would like to say how grateful I am to work with Maeghan every day. She is a terrific MA. She is always willing to help and working hard to do extra. Over the past year Maeghan has gone above and beyond doing the work of 2-3 MA’s. She is willing to learn new things and looks for ways to improve our practice daily. I could not do my job without her! We both also love Halloween, so we make a great pair! Love that girl!”

Emma brings such light and joy to the office. Her intelligence and ability to communicate with her patients and coworkers is wonderful. She takes her tasks head on with no fear. She is incredibly generous with her time and knowledge. She is proactive and “walks the talk”. Emma is not just an exceptional MA, but also human!

Thank you so much to our MA’s at CHC we truly could not do it without you all!!!”
