Mount Desert Island Hospital has announced the hiring of Ray Chalifour of Portsmouth, New Hampshire as the new Vice President of Physician Practices.
Ray Chalifour is MDI Hospital’s new VP of Physician Practices
He replaces Sheila Pierson-Roy who served in the position from 2009 until the Fall of 2010.
Chalifour will oversee operations at the Hospital’s health centers and clinics in Bar Harbor, Trenton and Southwest Harbor.
Chalifour brings to the post over twenty years in health care administration and five years as a corporate strategy consultant.
He received a Bachelors Degree from St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.
Between 1990 and 1999 he served various administrative roles for two New Hampshire hospital systems, providing analysis, guidance, and leadership during periods of organizational change.
From 2001 to 2005 Chalifour was the Administrative Director for Capital Region Family Health Center, the Dartmouth Family Medicine Residencies and Concord Surgical Associates, overseeing operations and strategic plan development and implementation.
Prior to joining MDI Hospital, he spent the past five years as Director of Physician Services at Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire.
Having vacationed on Mount Desert Island, Chalifour was familiar with and fond of the Island and its Hospital . “This organization is very supportive and collegial,” said Chalifour. “There’s a sense of collaboration throughout.”
