MDI Hospital to host public forum on HealthInfoNet Mar. 15

Mount Desert Island Hospital will host a public informational meeting to introduce HealthInfoNet, the statewide electronic health information exchange, on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 5:30 pm in the hospital cafeteria. HealthInfoNet is a statewide computer system that helps caregivers provide better care by combining information from all participating caregivers into a single electronic record.

The program is free and will offer details on what information is included in the HealthInfoNet record and how it affects patient care.

HealthInfoNet is an independent, Maine-based, non-profit organization that was created to interconnect patient information to improve the quality and efficiency of health care delivery in Maine. Participation in the network is voluntary and patients can choose not to participate. Patients can learn more about the network and opt-out online if they choose at www.hinfonet.org/optout.
